San Anto's Community Mural Program identifies, develops and mobilizes artistically-inclined youth and young adults to create collaborative community murals and public art pieces within the San Antonio community. The goals of the program are to create and inspire collaborative, quality public art.
San Anto creates public art works of various scale that become symbols of the Westside, defining its character through the eyes of its residents. Community members identify with our public art projects because we tell their stories. This identification leads to a real sense of ownership and pride of the murals by the community. In 2017 San Anto completed it’s 55th mural and each year strives to create at least two major public art works. San Anto has a positive and long-term effect on the community by reducing urban blight (tagging, vandalism, dumping) and beautifying neighborhoods.

Collaborations San Anto has produced public art projects through collaborations. Collaborators are neighborhood residents, schools, community organizations, and businesses, that work together and participate with our mural projects to further develop and assist in ideas, themes, and research processes in the creation of public art. Collaborators assist in community outreach which brings different skills and perspectives.
