San Antonio's Community
Arts center

San Anto Cultural Arts is a San Antonio, TX nonprofit founded in 1993 with the mission to foster human and community development through community-based arts. A focus on art through community engagement led to the creation of our community-based arts programs: the Community Mural Program, the El Placazo Community Newspaper, and the After School Arts Program (ASAP). These dynamic programs engage residents and foster the talents of youth by educating them on the history and techniques of public art while documenting and preserving the rich history and heritage of San Antonio's Westside.

THE LATEST

Premiering june 16, 2021

Thank you for being here for the next premiere in our art film series. We're very excited to present these films created by local artists to be viewed free of charge by community members everywhere. The idea behind this series was to continue to create public art even in the middle of a pandemic and to continue to hire artists to do that work. We will release one film a month through September 2021.

BEAT is a performance film shot and directed on 8mm film and digital HI-8 by Laura Gemini Valdez. With a soundtrack of 528 hz Solfeggio Frequency, Valdez pays tribute to the ritual of glamorizing oneself - a leisure that has been forgotten since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
