4. Education

According to the 2010 census, 4.5% of people living on the Westside have a bachelor’s degree. This number is constant increasing as young people value and fight for education. All the portraits are of youth on the Westside who graduated from UTSA, studying a range of subjects including criminal justice, communications and journalism, actuarial science, biology, kinesiology, and English. The graduates are preceded by a quote from Ricardo Cambariza:
Un pueblo puede tener piedras, garrotes, pistolas o cañones: aun asi, si no tiene libros, está completamente desarmado.
A community can have stones, clubs, guns, or cannons. Even then, if it does not have books, it is complete unarmed.
