Premiered April 16, 2021
Thank you for being here for the premiere of our art film series. We're very excited to present these films created by local artists to be viewed free of charge by community members everywhere. The idea behind this series was to continue to create public art even in the middle of a pandemic and to continue to hire artists to do that work. We will release one film a month through September 2021.
Our first film is by Vanessa Velazquez and is entitled Found In Nature. Vanessa Velazquez is a Photographer, Scout Leader, and Texas Master Naturalist. As a photographer she creates visual content for individuals, businesses, and nonprofit organizations. In 2018 she helped form the 13th Aguayaam Guan, a scout group that teaches outdoor skills to youth and adults. In 2020 she completed the Texas Master Naturalist certification and has been working to educate the community about conservation and preservation. She also loves traveling, more specifically road trips and visiting state and national parks.
"Found In Nature is a journey through 2020’s challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, shelter in place and quarantine orders. After struggling with anxiety and depression during this time, I began to research how nature can benefit mental health. This short film documents my Eco Therapy activities, observations, and interactions with nature." - Vanessa Velazquez
