A focus on art through community engagement led to the creation of our community-based arts programs: the Community Mural Program, the El Placazo Community Newspaper, and the After School Arts Program. These dynamic programs engage residents and foster the talents of youth by educating them on the history and techniques of public art while documenting and preserving the rich history and heritage of San Antonio's Westside.
SACA seeks a creative and passionate Executive Director (ED) who believes in and will continue to fulfill our organizational mission while maintaining and building upon the successes of the last 30 years. Our ideal candidate has a deep understanding of San Antonio’s Westside and a demonstrated knowledge of community development through grassroots, community-based arts.
The ED is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of SACA in accordance with the mission statement, strategic plan goals, and Board direction. The ED is responsible for the implementation of all SACA programs as well as the Board-approved development plan to raise funds that support the organization’s operations and programs. The ED will provide guidance, direction, and leadership as supervisor to all staff, volunteers, and participants.
The ED will report to the Board of Directors. This is a full time, in-person position. Salary range is $55,000 - $65,000 annually (40 hours per week), commensurate with experience.

Represent the Organization
- Articulate SACA’s mission, vision, and values by speaking in a professional and community focused manner at public events, to staff, to funders, and to the community of participants and volunteers.
- Project a positive image of SACA to funders, artists, members, the Westside Community, and the public at large.
- Be a strong voice for SACA in communicating the organization’s mission, goals, and accomplishments.
- Present self and the organization in a professional and positive manner in all aspects of operations. Cultivate relationships with staff, Board, funders, artists, program attendees, community, other organizations and media outlets to enhance San Anto Cultural Arts’ Mission.
- Supervise, support, and empower the coordinators of the El Placazo community newspaper, the Mentor Program, Youth Programming, the Community Mural Program, and all other SACA programs.
- Encourage staff and volunteer development and education, and assist program staff in relating their specialized work to the total program of the organization.
- Establish collaborative relationships with partnering community organizations to develop and implement activities and projects of mutual interest.
- Work with the Board of Directors to develop and implement a strategic fundraising plan. Research sources of funding, identify and develop relationships with funders that will support SACA’s mission of fiscal stability and growth.
- Write, submit, and manage the submission of grant proposals.
- Be responsible for developing and maintaining sound financial practices (records, reports and budgets). Work with the Board of Directors to develop and manage a budget that ensures adequate funds are available for the organization to fulfill its mission and operations.
- Develop and expand consistent revenue streams.
- Oversee day-to-day operations, including fiscal, operations, and programs management.
- Provide guidance, leadership, and direction to staff, volunteers, and participants.
- Adhere to HR policies and procedures as outlined in the employee handbook.
- Ensure that job descriptions are developed, that regular performance evaluations are held, and that sound human resource practices are in place.
- Maintain a climate which attracts, keeps, and motivates a diverse staff of top quality people.
- Identify and facilitate training and appropriate support to SACA personnel to help them better accomplish their duties and responsibilities.
- Responsible for communicating effectively with the Board and providing, in a timely and accurate manner, all information necessary for the Board to function properly and to make informed decisions.
- Establish policies and procedures for all functions and day-to-day operations of the organization.
- Report to and work closely with the Board of Directors on policy decisions, fundraising decisions, strategic planning and implementation.
- Oversee marketing and other communication efforts, including social media and press releases.
- Review and approve contracts for services.
- Other duties as appropriate.
- Knowledge and understanding of the rich history and heritage of San Antonio's Westside.
- Must value the history, culture, and significance that SACA expresses for the community.
- Transparent and high integrity leadership.
- Ability to foster and lead the staff of a grassroots cultural arts organization with the values of collaboration, love and support.
- Motivated to work in a multicultural environment.
- Ability to articulate a compelling creative vision with respect to arts and cultural programming.
- Proficiency in non-profit financial accounting.
- Self-motivated with strong organizational abilities.
- Ability to work well with others, multi-task, and problem-solve.
- High-level communication skills.
- Bilingual (English and Spanish), written and spoken fluency preferred.
- Knowledge and skill with Quickbooks and Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Google Workspace.
- Extensive knowledge in grant writing and grant management.
- Bachelor’s Degree or four years of administrative supervisory-level experience.
- Related experience in a non-profit organization required, non-profit arts experience preferred.
