The Huevos Rancheros Breakfast Gala and Art Auction is the major fundraising event for San Anto Cultural Arts. The event was created in 1998 to raise funds for our programming.

Held annually in mid October, the Huevos Gala is much more than another fundraising event. The gala serves to honor the King and Queen Huevos of San Antonio: two individuals chosen for their contributions to the artistic and cultural vibrancy of San Antonio. Past King and Queen Huevos include: Lila Cockrell / Jesse Treviño 1998; Rosemary Kowalski / Jesse Borrego 1999; Angela De Hoyos / Al Aguilar 2000; Terry Ybañez / Victor Miramontes 2001; Linda Pace / Adan Hernandez 2002; Dr. Ellen Riojas Clark / Andy Benavides 2003.

The gala also serves as an opportunity for San Anto Cultural Arts to honor The Court of Hueveros: San Anto project participants recognized for their contributions to our community through their involvement with the Community Mural Project, El Placazo Newspaper Project and the Youth Video Project.

The Huevos Rancheros Gala and Art Auction is San Anto Cultural Arts' largest single fundraiser, raising, on average, 20% of SACA©ˆs total operating expenses.

Every October since 1998, San Anto Cultural Arts, Inc. has thrown a party for all those early risers and art buyers. Featuring delicious Huevos Rancheros and great-tasting live music, the event is a concentrated outreach effort to corporate partners and thank you to community residents. Community residents may purchase tickets for as little as .99 cents or as much as $999.00.

Those who wish may also participate in a live and silent auction, bidding on sports tickets and other donated items, as well as art by internationally renowned artists who reside in San Antonio. Artists who have donated works include Adan Hernandez, Terry Ybañez, Cruz Ortiz, Cesar Martinez, and Enedina Vasquez. The Gala starts early in the morning, with a lowrider parade, a cascaron coronation of the King Huevo and Queen Hueva and the Huevero Court, and continues until the early afternoon with feasting, live music, and furious art bidding.

Funds raised through the event come from corporate sponsorship (the levels of sponsorship are: Ostrich Level - $5,000; Eagle - $2,500; Chicken - $1,000; Paloma - $500), individual ticket sales, art auction sales, and underwriting.
