Week one

Monday
A) Distribution
1. Mailout
2. Community Centers or Schools

C) Calls to remind people of monthly planning meeting
(meetings are first Monday of the month at 6:00 p.m )
D) Create Agenda for meeting
E) Clean up and buy snacks for meeting
F) Meeting
1. Critique last issue
2. Discuss the possibility of a theme issue
3. Brainstorm
* Stories
* Photos
4. Assign articles,photo assignments and mentors
5. Set up short term and long term goals
* deadlines for photos, articles, editing and layout
* Set day for press
* Set up mentoring Schedule (twice a week) get commitments
from people for month. (avoid setting up more than one
little person to come each day)

Tuesday
A) Create new template for newspaper
1. E.P folders on desktop
2. Zip disk for month
B) Call people and remind them to come in
C) Work on poetry and art page
D) Make school contacts pick up art work and articles at local Elem., M.S, and H.S
E) Set-up interviews for articles
F) Workshops
* Layout and Photgraphy

Wednesday
A) Work on stories and photos
B) Buy Snacks for the rest of the month
C) Recruit (if needed)
* make flyers
D) Guest Speaker
* (i.e., photographers, sociologist)

Deadlines and goals for week one -
* Poetry and Art page must be completed
* Complete mailout and distribution
* Workshops
* All interviews and photos must be set-up
* Set date for next meeting

Checklist for Week One -
* make sure we have all supplies for month: Film, 11/17 paper, ink for printer

Tips for WeekOne -
* If a great piece of artwok comes in place it on the cover
* Type in strong community letters

Week Two
Monday
A) Deadline for photos
B) Do interviews or stories and start typing them in
* Type on Quark and if not available type on microsoftword
C) If any new letters come in, read and if art or poetry is going to be used
set apart if not file in alphabetical order
D) Go to schools and do outreach
E) Call people to see what’s up with articles and other assignments

Tuesday
A) continue work on iterviews / photos
* Assist mentors and staff
* Begin Layout
* Update ads (mural /photos)

Wednesday
A) Develop film in dark room
B) Work on Poerty and Art page for following month
C) Call people to remind them that rough drafts are due.
D) Continue interviews

Thursday
A) Begin layout
B) Minor editing
C) Have all photos scanned in
D) Wrap up the reminder of the week

Deadlines and Goals for Week Two -
*All photos must be in
*Roughdrafts must be typed in
*layout session
*Make a list of all things that still need to be done

Week Three
Monday
A) Begin Alyout of Newspaper
B) Edit articles
C) Take pictures and all else that needs to be done

Tuesday
A) Layout
B) Edit

Wednesday
A) Front Page session
*discuss what the cover will be,
article with graphic or big photo or big art piece.
B) Layout
C) Edit

Thursday
A) Print a copy of newspaper and have an
edit session, each page must be looked at by at least two people.

B) Make neccesary adjustments and corrections

Deadlines and goals for Week Three -
* Wrap-up newspaper
* Set date for when newspaper will go to press

Tips For Week three -
* If no stories are in go to plan B, fill in with communiy photos or a collage.

Week Four

Monday
A) Call people to remind of monthly meeting
*Invite people to come to meeting
B) Extremly Final Edit, Print newspaper
C) Continue process of finishing paper

Tuesday
A) Paper goes to print - SA Press
