Dist. 5 Councilwoman Patti Radle speaks on Westside public art, health, fitness

SAN ANTONIO (Nov. 4, 2003) - San Anto Cultural Arts (SACA) and District 5 Councilwoman Patti Radle will conduct a press conference Wednesday, Nov. 5, at 12:30 p.m. to announce the first annual Corazon y Familia Mural 5k Run/Walk and address the importance of Westside public art, health and fitness. Radle co-chairs the event with University of Texas at San Antonio President Dr. Ricardo Romo.

The press conference takes place at 2120 El Paso on the corner of El Paso and Chupaderas streets.

SACA's eighth mural "Salvacion" serves as the backdrop for the press conference. Located within a barrio just north of Guadalupe St., "Salvacion" has become a place of worship and meditation for local residents who may not feel comfortable or welcomed at a church or other traditional place of worship. Founded in 1993, San Anto Cultural Arts is a non-profit, community arts organization located in the heart of San Antonio's Westside. The organization currently operates three projects: The Community Mural Project, The Video Oral History and Documentary Project and El Placazo Community Newspaper.
